MSVA Salutes Staffcentrix:  Their Vision Realized Her Vision
by Elaine R. Stewart

As a military dependent for 12 years and later a military spouse of 10 years, my vision had always been to own my own business.  The ideal business would be:

  • one which focused on my 14 years of Office and Administrative experience
  • one in which I could help others achieve their visions to succeed whether it be in business, career, or personal interests
  • one that would utilize my gift and love for technology
  • one that had no limits on how far I could go, whom I could help and how much I could learn
To make the vision a reality, the business had to be compatible with these factors:
  • support the needs of five years into raising a family including a sickly child
  • relocating every 3 years for the next 20 years
  • relocating to remote sites
The ‘business’ was just a vision.  Then, God sent me 2 angels - Chris Durst and Michael Haaren from Staffcentrix – when they came to Fort Carson to conduct the Staffcentrix Portable Career & Virtual Assistant Training Program for Military Spouses. I applied to participate in the program and was accepted (1 of 25 in an Army Base of 15,000 soldiers (at least half had spouses) and graduated in September 2002.  During the training, I knew without a doubt that my vision was no longer a vision; I could make this happen…right now.  Before the training ended, I had already started implementing Staffcentrix ideas and advice for successfully starting and running a VA business being a Military Spouse; in between MSVA training, a toddler, a kindergartener, a soldier husband, and work.  The name of my business… eOfficeVisions!

Following the training at Fort Carson, Chris Durst made us aware of an arrangement Staffcentrix had made with Realtor.com® through which qualified military spouses could receive follow-on training that would help build their skills in assisting real estate professionals. I applied for this program, was accepted, and graduated in October 2002 as a Certified Realtor.com® VA. Thereafter, I obtained the certifications of EthicsCheck™ and Certified Real Estate Support Specialist (CRESS™) from IVAA.

Last month, God sent me another angel, Michelle Thornton a.k.a. “The Real Estate VA” and her visions for expanding her VA business.  On that day, I signed my first subcontractor agreement for Realtor.com® XLerator™ VA services with the possibility of more agreements in the future, depending on compatibility and performance.  By that afternoon, I had signed another and by the end of the week, I had 5 agreements total (for XLerator™ and all Realtor.com® products) with The Real Estate VA. Today, I am a team member of eClosingCoordinator.com supporting the Director with Online Transaction Management.  At last, my vision has become a reality… I am living my vision and Staffcentrix’ vision - the Military Spouse VA.

What lies in the future for me and eOfficeVisions?  A future feature in Mr. Internet’s ePowerNews on my Realtor.com® XLerator™ VA services, Real Estate Personal Assistant training, growing eOfficeVisions, assisting fellow MSVAs, and the visions keep coming…there are no limits!  God Bless Staffcentrix, The Real Estate VA, and the USA!
